PRIDE motorcycling organizes circuit based
Road Skills Days at LLandow near Cardiff, less than 100 miles
from Taunton. They
accommodate riders of all abilities. Instruction
and advice are on hand. All types of bike are welcome.
Next date: Thursday 25th
September 2008
Road Skills Days are designed to
improve your gear changing, cornering and braking skills in safe controlled
conditions. Discover just how hard you can brake, how fast you can corner
and how far you can lean. Gain new insight into your abilities and machine
handling skills. Road Skills Days are not designed to make you
ride faster on the road, rather to let you ride more safely and confidently
within your new found abilities.
The sessions are run under strict rules with
organised seeded groups using the track under controlled conditions. There
are 50 places available for each day. The day starts at 09:30 for a track
briefing and runs until about 4pm. Riders are seeded according to experience
so you will only go on track with others of similar ability. Groups are on
track for 15 minutes at a time, there is a lunch break and an afternoon tea
break. During the morning sessions we do not allow overtaking but later in
the day when everyone is settled in we do allow passing with care.
You
don't need one piece leathers or a top quality helmet but you MUST have
suitable protective clothing. By that we mean a good quality
motorcycle jacket preferably with shoulder, back and elbow pads. Trousers
should ideally be of similar quality with hip and knee pads. If they zip
onto your jacket
that's even better. Your helmet should be good quality, type approved to BSI
or UNECE specification, and full-face or system/flip type. If your helmet
has a gold ACU label then it is considered suitable for hard-track use.
There are medical facilities on hand and
refreshments can be purchased in the track's excellent cafe. If you're riding to Llandow please keep in
mind that the day can be tiring and you've got to get home afterwards. If
you bring your bike in a van or on a trailer don't forget the keys. Fuel is
available nearby. You may want to remove mirrors and indicators at the track,
if you can't take your mirrors off then covering them up with tape is a good
idea. Rear observations are for the road not the track. Taping over headlamp
glass can also be a money saver.
Numbers
will be limited on a first come first served basis; payment is asked for in
advanced, price will be posted here soon, last year it was £90 per rider. Send us an email with your
details, contact number etc.
